9670390-29556 Job Description Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, providing critical support to students in a psychiatric treatment facility. In this role, you'll collaborate within a unique educational environment, working with a caseload of 15 students aged 12-18 years who present with severe and intense behavioral needs. This full-time position, spanning 37.5 hours per week, begins as soon as possible and extends through June 4, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
Hold a valid South Carolina Multi-Categorical teaching license Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification Demonstrated experience managing and supporting students with severe or intense behaviors Familiarity with delivering modified grade-level instruction Proficiency in bridging educational and clinical approaches, supporting students academic and therapeutic growth
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored for students in a psychiatric residential setting Collaborate closely with clinical staff to align educational and therapeutic strategies Adapt lessons using modified curriculum to address diverse learning and behavioral needs Maintain effective communication with families, clinical staff, and multidisciplinary team members Employ de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques as needed Foster a classroom environment that nurtures both safety and academic progress Track and report on student progress and behavior to inform ongoing instructional and clinical practices This contract role offers the unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of adolescents within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
