Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract To Hire Step into an impactful role supporting students at a psychiatric residential treatment facility serving grades 2-12. This full-time, in-person opportunity focuses on leading resource support for secondary students (grades 6-12) with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You'll manage a caseload of about 15 students, thoughtfully grouping them for optimal service delivery and fostering growth and progress as they work towards school reintegration.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification Previous experience working with EBD, OHI, and ASD within a resource or special education setting Strong background supporting students in grades 6-12 Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement effective behavioral and academic interventions Excellent team collaboration skills, especially in multi-disciplinary environments Compassionate approach tailored to diverse student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as a resource teacher delivering targeted instruction and support to a manageable caseload of 15 students Group students according to their strengths and needs to maximize engagement and outcomes Collaborate with an extraordinary staff, working within a structure that offers one adult for every four students Help students develop the skills necessary to successfully transition to traditional school settings Maintain accurate records, participate in IEP meetings, and communicate frequently with families and treatment teams Adapt lessons and strategies to meet students' individual academic and behavioral goals This contract-to-hire position offers a meaningful way to make a difference, surrounded by a dedicated team, and empowers you to personalize your approach.
