Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract To Hire Make a difference supporting remarkable students in a full-time, contract-to-hire role at a psychiatric residential treatment facility for grades 2-12. This opportunity allows you to work closely with a targeted caseload of secondary students (grades 6-12) who have Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You'll join a resource support team focused on helping students develop the skills they need to transition successfully to mainstream middle and high school environments.

Key Qualifications:

Valid Special Education licensure (or eligibility) Demonstrated experience teaching students with EBD, OHI, and ASD Strong knowledge of resource room models and individualized instruction Ability to manage and group 15 students for highly effective learning Skilled in IEP development, progress monitoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Dedication to fostering an inclusive, structured, and supportive classroom environment

Role Responsibilities:

Provide special education resource services to students in grades 6-12 Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and track student progress Organize instructional groups as needed to maximize learning Collaborate with mental health professionals, administration, and support staff Communicate regularly with families and team members Maintain a classroom ratio of 1 teacher + 1 adult per every 4 students Guide students working toward reintegration into mainstream classes This position lets you shape instructional strategies while working with a committed support network.
