Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact working with students as a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This rewarding, contract-based opportunity involves providing specialized educational support for visually impaired learners in a school setting. You'll spend 3-4 days each week onsite, developing and implementing individualized instruction to ensure every student's success.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to visually impaired students in a school-based environment Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies for students with varying degrees of visual impairment Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to create inclusive learning plans Conduct assessments to determine appropriate goals and monitor student progress Advocate for student needs and ensure accessibility within school programs Maintain accurate records and comply with district/state guidelines
Qualifications:
Hold active South Carolina certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired Previous experience working with K-12 students who are blind or visually impaired Solid understanding of braille, assistive technology, and accessible educational materials Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams Ability to adapt to varied learning needs and environments Commitment to empowering students and promoting independence This role begins as soon as possible and runs through May 2027, offering 22.5-30 hours each week. Interaction is entirely onsite, providing consistency and hands-on learning for students.
