A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work on site.
JOB SUMMARY
This position accelerates the learning or acquisition of English for English language learners (ELLs) and the academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies in order for LEP students to achieve passing classroom expectations, passing SOL scores, and meet graduation requirements. This position provides cross-cultural information about the American school system and being a student in an American school for LEP students. This position serves as a liaison between the LEP student and all his/her classroom teachers and their families and the school. This position implements all ESOL program procedures in order to be in compliance with legal responsibilities. This position provides leadership and consultation as the second language expert/specialist to all staff in a school.
