Immediately Job Description Position Summary Brookhaven Treatment & Learning Center is a state-approved independent therapeutic school serving students in grades K-10 with complex educational, behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs. Through individualized instruction integrated with therapeutic, residential, and clinical services, Brookhaven provides students with the opportunity to achieve academic success while developing the skills necessary to thrive both in school and beyond. Brookhaven is seeking knowledgeable, engaging, and collaborative Content Area Specialists to provide subject-specific instruction in one or more core academic areas: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and/or Social Studies. Position Purpose The Content Area Specialist provides subject-specific instruction and supports curriculum development within their designated academic area. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, special educators, and Brookhaven's multidisciplinary team, the Content Area Specialist adapts instruction to meet the academic abilities, individual educational needs, and goals of students working across multiple grade and ability levels. Essential Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Provide instruction within the assigned content area. Develop and adapt standards-aligned curriculum and instruction to meet students' individual needs. Assess student progress and maintain required documentation. Educational Collaboration Implement applicable IEP accommodations and supports in collaboration with special educators. Collaborate with educational, clinical, and residential staff to support student success. Participate in team meetings as appropriate. Professional Responsibilities Maintain a safe, supportive, and trauma-responsive learning environment. Follow Brookhaven policies, procedures, and required training. Perform other duties as assigned. Ability to move throughout classrooms and school facilities. Ability to respond appropriately during student behavioral crises consistent with required training and Brookhaven procedures. Ability to occasionally lift instructional materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Working Environment Brookhaven provides educational services within a therapeutic treatment environment. Content Area Specialists may provide individual, small-group, or classroom instruction to students across multiple grade and ability levels. Employment Requirements Successful completion of required criminal background checks. Completion and maintenance of required Brookhaven training, including safety and crisis-intervention training as applicable. Compliance with Brookhaven policies governing confidentiality, student safety, professional conduct, and mandated reporting. Valid driver's license preferred. Schedule This is a part-time position. The specific schedule will be established based on Brookhaven's educational program needs, assigned content area, and candidate availability. Compensation & Benefits Brookhaven offers competitive hourly compensation commensurate with education, training, experience, subject-matter expertise, and applicable licensure. Benefits, if applicable, are provided in accordance with Brookhaven policies and the employee's regularly scheduled hours.
