Desired Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate (Residency or Professional), with endorsement in Deaf Education or DHH Experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school setting Strong foundation in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Proficiency with various communication methods used in Deaf Education, such as ASL, total communication, or oral/aural approaches Effective collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and other educators Deep commitment to empowering Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
What Youll Do:
Provide direct instruction and support to a caseload of 20-25 K-2 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to individual student needs, supporting both academic and communication goals Implement and review IEPs, ensuring legal compliance and positive outcomes for students Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to maximize accessibility Partner with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to support inclusive learning Offer guidance and training for school staff and families on communication strategies and assistive technology This role is available for an immediate start and runs through January 2027, offering a remarkable opportunity for educators seeking to make meaningful connections with young learners.
