JOB GOAL

Annually by the Principal or designee Full time; 185 Days (following school calendar) Work day is 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. In conjunction with school personnel, support students with regard to academics, social-emotional skills, positive behavior choices, and assist in maintaining a positive and safe school climate This position functions as a substitute teacher or student support aide (1 to 1 or small group), and provides general program support as needed.

MAJOR DUTIES & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Able to work with students in a classroom, small group, or one-to-one setting.
• Demonstrates flexibility to support all school programs as needed daily.
• Highly committed to working in a collaborative school environment.
• Prior experience working with at-risk youth and families, schools, and community agencies.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Understanding and/or experience in implementing Trauma Informed Practices.
• Excellent problem solving, flexibility and relationship building skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent technology skills (Google Suite).
• Supports classroom continuity as a substitute teacher as needed.
• Supports classroom instruction as a classroom teaching assistant, small group facilitator or one-to-one assistant.
• Assists with the recording and maintenance of student academic, attendance and behavior documentation for reporting purposes.
• Assists with positive student interventions and supports.
• Maintains a presence on the Center for Student Success campus and assists in supervising students and staff.
• Demonstrates an understanding of best practices for successful student behavior management strategies through a trauma sensitive lens.
• Participate in team meetings, including MTSS, and student support planning.
• Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
• Support program expectations by covering office positions as needed.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Knowledge

• Thorough knowledge of written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person by email and by phone to resolve issues related to areas of responsibility. Ability

Education/Preparation

• Professional Educator License (PEL) or Substitute Teacher License
• The employee must have the ability to solve complex problems in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret instructions provided through written and oral form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and taste or smell.

The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel instructional materials. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The employee shall possess personal computing skills with the following types of software; web browsers, word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems.

The employee shall use ROE approved resources, technology, and assistive technology. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a school setting.
