- Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, and achievement
- Guide and support students in reading, language arts, mathematics, computer use, and other skills
- Work with students individually, in small groups, or whole class to reinforce instruction and implement programs
- Assist with administering and grading classroom assignments, tests, and assessments
- Help prepare instructional materials and reinforce skills tailored to individual student needs
- Maintain records to track student performance and learning
- Support behavioral management to ensure a safe and orderly classroom
- Supervise students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus arrival/dismissal, playground, hallways, and study halls
- Prepare classroom materials as directed by the teacher
- Assist with parent communication as requested by the teacher
- Participate in the IEP process and provide input as a member of the student support team
- Support students with daily living activities, including toileting, feeding, hygiene, and mobility
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, especially when supporting students with special needs
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information at all times
- Encourage student independence, self-esteem, and social-emotional growth
- Provide classroom coverage/substitute when needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of inclusive education and support for diverse learners
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to implement teacher-directed instructional and behavioral strategies .
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or minimum 48 college credits preferred
