As part of the nation's largest network supporting youth from families with limited economic resources, we began our journey in 2021. Job Description Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School is seeking dependable and student-centered Substitute Teachers to provide classroom coverage when faculty members are absent. Substitute Teachers help ensure that students continue learning in a safe, structured, and positive environment. Substitute Teachers are responsible for following the plans and directions provided by the classroom teacher, maintaining school and classroom expectations, supervising students, and supporting a positive learning environment. Substitutes may serve for individual class periods or for a full school day based on school needs and their availability. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: In the Classroom Follow lesson plans, assignments, and instructions provided by the classroom teacher. Provide students with clear directions and support them in completing assigned work. Maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment and hold students accountable to school and classroom expectations. Take attendance accurately and follow school procedures for reporting attendance. Actively supervise students throughout the class period. Follow established classroom routines and school policies, including expectations related to student behavior, technology, and academic work. Seek assistance from school leadership when significant student behavior or safety concerns arise. Leave clear notes for the classroom teacher about student participation, completed work, behavior concerns, and any other important information from the class period. School Community Arrive on time and be prepared to begin assigned responsibilities at the scheduled time. Follow directions provided by school leadership and office staff regarding daily assignments and responsibilities. Maintain professional and respectful relationships with students, faculty, staff, and families. Maintain student confidentiality and handle student information appropriately. Support the school's Jesuit mission by contributing to a loving, joyful, and justice-oriented school culture. Follow all CRRTHS policies, procedures, and safety expectations while on campus. Qualifications Successful applicants will embody mission-commitment, reliability, flexibility, and a genuine desire to support young people. In addition, they will meet or exceed the following requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree or college coursework preferred. Ability to effectively supervise and manage groups of high school students. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written lesson plans, procedures, and directions. Dependability, punctuality, and flexibility. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and student confidentiality. Background Check Required Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with high school students. Previous teaching, substitute teaching, tutoring, youth development, or classroom experience. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree (AA or AS), college coursework, or other postsecondary education is welcomed but not required. Conversational Spanish is a plus. Compensation Substitute Teachers are paid based on the length of their assignment:
Individual Class Coverage:
$25 per class
Full-Day Substitute Coverage:
$175 per day Substitute opportunities are offered based on school needs and substitute availability.
