Substitute teachers provide classroom coverage when regular staff members are absent and help maintain a safe, respectful, and consistent environment for our students. Our school serves children from Toddler through Upper Elementary , and substitutes may have opportunities to work with a variety of age groups depending on experience, comfort level, and school needs. Position Overview This is an as-needed, on-call position . Substitute opportunities may be available with advance notice or on the morning coverage is needed. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a flexible schedule while gaining experience in a Montessori school environment. Responsibilities Provide classroom coverage when a teacher or assistant is absent Follow plans and routines provided by the classroom teaching team Supervise students and maintain a safe, positive classroom environment Support students during classroom work, transitions, meals, recess, and other daily activities Model respectful communication, grace, and courtesy Encourage student independence while providing appropriate support Assist with classroom organization and cleanup Communicate with teachers and administration regarding the school day Follow Central Montessori Academy policies and applicable licensing requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with children preferred Montessori experience is helpful but not required Dependable and able to adapt to different classrooms and age groups Patient, positive, and comfortable working as part of a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to complete required background checks, trainings, and school documentation About Central Montessori Academy Central Montessori Academy is a welcoming Montessori community serving children from Toddler through Upper Elementary.
