Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Paraprofessional, working onsite with elementary-aged learners. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a difference in the lives of children in both 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms, with an anticipated transition to a Kindergarten-1st grade setting over time. You'll contribute to a supportive environment, providing direct assistance within the classroom and collaborating with educators to help each student succeed.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit required at the time of application (confirmation via screenshot from DEEDS portal if pending). Willingness to complete required $85 CBC fingerprinting fee prior to assignment. Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting preferred. Adaptable, compassionate, and able to build rapport with students and colleagues. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow educator direction. If currently an RBT, please note that supervision must be obtained independently and certification will not be recognized for title or compensation in this role.
Responsibilities:
Provide classroom and small group support to students in alignment with teacher instructions. Facilitate engagement and participation in learning activities for both 2nd/3rd graders initially, then transitioning to K-1 students. Assist with behavior management, redirection, and emotional support as needed. Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages student growth. Maintain confidentiality and follow school and district guidelines at all times. Enjoy a steady weekday schedule (Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch). This role runs through the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
