Description:
Mahomet-Seymour Junior High is accepting applications for a COMPASS Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, and administrators to provide academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional support in a structured learning environment that promotes student growth, independence, and success.
Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of individualized instructional and behavioral plans under the direction of certified staff. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic and behavioral support. Reinforce social-emotional and independent living skills throughout the school day. Assist with behavior intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques as directed. Support students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, electives, community-based activities, and other school routines. Collect and document student progress and behavioral data as requested. Prepare instructional materials and assist in maintaining a structured, safe, and organized learning environment.
Qualifications:
Must have an Illinois ELS Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement or the Short-Term Approval for the Paraprofessional or the ability to obtain one of these license options prior to employment. Experience working with students with diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs is preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team. Ability to assist students with academic, behavioral, and personal care needs as assigned. Must be able to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting employment.

NOTE:
Our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement expired at the end of the 2025-2026 school year and we are currently negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the 2026-2027 school year.
