Immediately Job Description Paraprofessional - bilingual Mandarin / English preferred but not required: 1. Under supervision of a certified teacher, prepare for classroom instructional events and other educational or non-educational activities. a. Assists the teacher in implementing strategies and interventions developed by the teacher for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities (including implementing necessary accommodations); b. Interacts appropriately with students, and assists in creating an environment conducive to learning c. Assist with the supervision of students while promoting activities to enhance the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of students 2. Work with individuals and small groups of students to: a. Reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher; help practice and support work of the teacher; b. Aid independent study, enrichment or remedial work as provided by the teacher; c. Help students master instructional tasks assigned by teachers; and assist in learning d. Observe and make notes of the observation on student performance or learning behaviors, e. Accompanies assigned student(s) to lunch, recess, or to nurse's office, as necessary; 3. Assist teachers with non-instructional duties, such as: a. Classroom supervision of students in preparation for lunch, bus loading and unloading, cleanup, and play periods; b. Escorting and supervising movement of students throughout the school, to classes, the restroom, recess, etc. c. Proctoring testing and providing make up work assistance; d. Other clerical duties related to classroom organization and instruction. e. Attends staff or parent meetings when needed 4. Assist school by subbing in classes as needed and schedule permits 5. Participate in available professional development activities as needed
