Essential Functions and Responsibilities-Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Follow all rules policies and procedures of the Lawrence Public Schools along with state and federal regulations pertaining to special education Present self in a professional manner in dress, conduct and behavior Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with students and other professionals Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA regulations Seek out and actively engage in professional development activities Become familiar with IEPs and assist with execution of goals and accommodations Monitor and engage with students at all times during work hours unless directed otherwise Be familiar with lesson plans and duties associated with them for each lesson Work with individuals and/or small groups to deliver special education services Implement de-escalation skills, behavior management strategies, behavior intervention plan, and crisis intervention as needed Properly document serious student incidents Communicate with ancillary providers as directed Be familiar with and facilitate lesson plans and duties associated with them on an as needed basis Perform related duties as requested as needed by teacher or administrator As part of the job requirements and responsibilities, the Crisis Intervention Aide must maintain yearly Crisis Intervention Prevention (CPI) and/or Safety Care training and certification. Highly Qualified Status/Meet No Child Left Behind- Associate Degree + or completion of Para Pro exam.
