The Sheepscot Valley Children's House (SVCH) is looking for a nurturing, creative, and flexible full-time assistant to join our team of wonderful teachers! This position will be working primarily with our Toddler and Preschool programs, which enroll children from 2-3 years of age. SVCH is a non-profit school and licensed childcare center serving children from birth through pre-kindergarten. We have been a staple in Midcoast Maine for over 40 years and our priority is to provide high quality childcare in a nurturing environment. We have a team of experienced and dedicated staff, along with five well-equipped classrooms and an expansive outdoor space overlooking the Sheepscot River. The salary for this position starts at $19-21 per hour, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise children under the guidance of the Lead Teacher. Assist with lesson plan implementation and developing culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities. Support children in developmentally appropriate ways that respect their inherent curiosity and desire to learn and play. Attend staff meetings and complete necessary trainings. Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.

Qualifications:

Desire to work with children of various backgrounds and development levels. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment. Minimum of 1-year of early childhood experience, preferably with children 2-3 years of age. A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or background in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Once hired, must pass a background check and complete mandatory fingerprinting
