Stepping Stones of Grosse Ile is seeking a warm, dependable, and enthusiastic Associate Teacher to join our Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) classroom. The GSRP Associate Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for preschool children. The ideal candidate believes children learn best through meaningful relationships, hands-on exploration, purposeful play, and consistent encouragement. Our work is guided by five

Community, Dedicated, Growth, Enriching, and Nurturing. Responsibilities Partner with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement the HighScope curriculum. Help maintain a consistent but flexible daily routine that includes small-group, large-group, work-time, outdoor, meal, and rest experiences. Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Support children's social-emotional, physical, language, literacy, and cognitive development. Engage with children through positive, respectful, and intentional adult-child interactions. Observe children and assist with documenting their development using COR Advantage. Prepare classroom materials and help maintain organized, inviting learning areas. Use positive guidance strategies to help children build independence and problem-solving skills. Support family engagement activities, conferences, home visits, and other GSRP requirements. Build trusting and professional relationships with children, families, and coworkers. Participate in team meetings, professional development, coaching, and program evaluation activities. Follow all GSRP, MiLEAP, licensing, health, safety, confidentiality, and center requirements. Assist with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, meal routines, toileting, and other daily care needs. Perform other duties necessary to support the classroom and program. Required Qualifications Applicants must meet at least one of the following GSRP credential requirements: An associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or an approved equivalent; A valid Center-Based Birth to Five Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential; A valid Center-Based Preschool CDA Credential; or An existing qualifying 120-hour approval letter recognized under GSRP requirements.
Candidates must also:
Be able to pass all required background checks. Meet Michigan childcare licensing health and training requirements. Obtain or maintain CPR and First Aid certification. Demonstrate patience, dependability, professionalism, and strong communication skills. Be able to actively participate in classroom activities and safely lift or assist young children as needed. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with preschool-aged children. Experience with HighScope and COR Advantage. Knowledge of GSRP requirements and developmentally appropriate practices. Experience working collaboratively in a teaching team. A commitment to continued learning and professional growth.
