Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a positive impact in North Kansas City, Missouri, as a contracted school paraprofessional this upcoming academic year. Work with students ranging from elementary through high school, supporting a variety of special education classrooms and collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a respectful and inclusive environment. This role is ideal for those who thrive on flexibility and are comfortable working at multiple school sites throughout the year.
What You'll Bring:
Valid Substitute Certificate (active on the DESE website) or ParaPro Exam completion with transcripts on file (required prior to district interview) Flexibility to float between elementary, middle, and high school campuses as needed Experience supporting K-12 students, particularly in special education environments Willingness to assist with toileting, changing, and behavior management Skill in implementing individualized behavior interventions and instructional strategies
Your Day-to-Day:
Provide direct 1:1 or classroom-wide support to students with diverse needs Collaborate with educators and therapists to ensure student safety and promote academic/social success Implement behavior intervention plans with professionalism and empathy Adapt to varying schedules: Middle schools (7:00-2:30), High schools (7:30-3:00), Elementary schools (8:30-4:00 or 9:00-4:30) Move between up to 22 elementary, 6 middle, and 5 high school locations as needed by the district
