Job Description
Overview Firefly Oasis in Smithtown, NY is seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dependable part-time Teacher's Assistant to support our new Pre-K/Kindergarten program for the 2026-2027 school year . This nurturing, play-based program serves children ages 3-6 in a beautiful setting where children thrive as they build a strong foundation for future learning! Classes run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am-12. Inspired by the wisdom of Waldorf Education , our mixed-aged program offers a warm, joyful environment that supports each child's physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development through developmentally appropriate experiences. Our daily rhythm includes indoor and outdoor free play, circle time songs, games and stories, baking, artistic activities and wholesome snacktimes! Through rich sensory experiences, self-directed play, teacher-guided activities, and experiential pre-literacy and numeracy opportunities, children develop confidence, curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning! The Teacher's Assistant will work closely with the Lead Teacher to help create a rhythmic, safe and engaging environment for the children. Responsibilities include supporting the daily flow of the morning, assisting with care of the classroom, preparing nourishing snacks, supervising indoor and outdoor play, and helping maintain a calm, organized, loving space.
