Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Instructional Assistant I to support instruction and help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where all students can succeed. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children and making a meaningful impact each day in a supportive school community.

This is a [full-time position (7 hours per day) and requires flexibility in working with a variety of students and supporting diverse academic, behavioral, and developmental needs throughout the school day.

Position Summary

Instructional Assistants work under the direction of licensed staff to support student learning, engagement, and success. Responsibilities include assisting with instruction, reinforcing skills, supporting behavior, and helping implement individualized supports in both general education and specialized settings.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Must meet Federal "Highly Qualified" requirements:
  • Associate's degree or 2 years of college coursework, or
  • Ability to pass a district academic and instructional support assessment
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred but not required
  • Pay & Benefits
  • Hourly wage: $18.36

•$23.35 (Column F, Classified Wage Schedule)

Key Responsibilities

Support teachers with instructional delivery and student learning activities

Work with students individually, in small groups, and whole-class settings

Assist in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and student support strategies

Supervise students across all school environments (classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, buses, and more)

Support positive student behavior using district-approved strategies and interventions

Assist with student assessment, grading, and progress monitoring

Provide academic, behavioral, physical, and personal care support as needed

Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
