Job Description

We are accepting applications for an Instructional Assistant. The Instructional Assistant provides a Kindergarten classroom teacher with support and assistance in implementing an instructional program/curriculum that incorporates strategies and methods that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of students. The Instructional Assistant also supports the classroom teacher with providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment that is safe/multicultural/gender/ability-fair and in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
Key Accountabilities:
Assists the classroom teacher in establishing and maintaining classroom management procedures to clearly communicate expectations to ensure an effective learning environment. Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher and facilitates an appropriate attitude of independence in all children. Assists with large group activities. Organizes and leads activities, at the direction of the teacher, designed to promote physical, mental, and social development.
Position Requirements:
High School diploma with equivalent experience accepted. Ability to positively interact with students to encourage development. Supportive, empathetic, nurturing and patient personality and excellent listening skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all students, staff, and parents. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Excellent dependability and reliability. Excellent attention to detail and follow through. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
