Assistant Teachers play an essential role in bringing this mission to life each day by supporting classroom routines, engaging with children, and helping create a warm, structured learning environment. Position Summary The Assistant Teacher works alongside the Lead Teacher to support daily classroom operations and create a positive, engaging learning environment for young children. This role is hands-on and child-centered, focused on helping implement lesson plans, guiding daily routines, and supporting each child's social, emotional, and developmental growth. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, values teamwork, and is looking to grow within early childhood education. Key Responsibilities Support the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and classroom activities Engage with children in meaningful play that supports early literacy, math readiness, social-emotional development, and motor skills Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment Assist with daily routines including transitions, meals, rest time, and outdoor play Provide positive behavior guidance using consistent, supportive strategies Supervise and interact with children to ensure safety and engagement at all times Observe and communicate child progress or concerns to the Lead Teacher Support classroom materials preparation and setup for activities Build warm, responsive relationships with children and families Work collaboratively with the classroom team to ensure smooth daily operations Qualifications Experience in early childhood education or childcare preferred Strong interest in child development and early learning Ability to work collaboratively as part of a classroom team Positive, patient, and engaging approach with young children Strong communication skills Willingness to learn and grow in the early childhood field CDA, coursework in Early Childhood Education, or related experience preferred (but not required for entry-level roles) What We Offer A supportive and team-oriented school environment Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Clear pathways for growth into Lead Teacher roles A consistent, structured curriculum and classroom support system A meaningful role where your work directly impacts children's daily experiences Join Our Team At The Goddard School of Plymouth Meeting, Assistant Teachers are valued members of our classroom teams.
