This position plays a key role in implementing Early Head Start Performance Standards by fostering safe, nurturing environments that promote early development, attachment, and school readiness foundations. The Assistant Teacher helps carry out daily routines, supports individualized learning experiences, and builds positive partnerships with families through ongoing communication and engagement activities. Key Responsibilities Support daily caregiving routines such as feeding, diapering, toileting, rest, and transitions Assist with implementing a developmentally appropriate infant/toddler curriculum aligned with Early Head Start standards Help create and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment Encourage positive social-emotional development using responsive and supportive strategies Observe children's development and document progress using agency-approved systems (e.g., COPA) Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher during lesson planning and classroom activities Step in to support classroom coverage as needed Participate in home visits, family conferences, and ongoing family communication Serve meals and snacks following nutrition and sanitation guidelines Support children with developmental delays or disabilities in collaboration with specialists Maintain active supervision at all times Follow mandated reporter guidelines and confidentiality policies Assist with recruitment, enrollment, and community outreach activities Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions Complete additional duties as assigned by program leadership Work Environment & Physical Requirements Fast-paced infant/toddler classroom environment Frequent standing, sitting on the floor, bending, kneeling, and lifting Ability to lift up to 25 pounds Exposure to common childhood illnesses and bodily fluids Occasional local travel for home visits or program-related activities Equal Opportunity Statement ACE of NEPA is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
