Early Learner Assistant Ira Academy Austin, TX Job Details Part-time $7.25 - $15.00 an hour 7 hours ago Qualifications Observation-based student assessment General academic student support Student supervision Student progress monitoring Student mentoring Experience teaching math Basic math Education Working with students Grading Early Childhood Education Providing feedback to students Full Job Description About the Role We are seeking a patient, dependable, and enthusiastic Early Learner Assistant to support our youngest students (Pre-K through 2nd grade) at our Kumon Learning Center. This role is ideal for students pursuing a career in teaching or child development who want hands-on experience working with young learners in a structured academic environment. Key Responsibilities Support Pre-K to 2nd grade students with early reading, writing, and math activities Guide students to work independently while providing encouragement and gentle correction Assist with grading worksheets accurately and consistently Observe student progress and communicate concerns to the instructor or center director Help maintain a calm, positive, and organized classroom environment Prepare learning materials and complete other center tasks as needed Follow Kumon instructional methods and center procedures Required Qualities & Skills Enjoys working with young children and has a warm, encouraging demeanor Patient, attentive, and able to explain concepts in simple terms Responsible and reliable with strong attention to detail Willingness to learn and follow structured teaching methods Ability to sit with children, observe closely, and provide individualized support Comfortable performing repetitive academic tasks (e.g., grading worksheets) Preferred Qualifications Currently studying Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development , or a related field Prior experience working with children (tutoring, daycare, classroom aide, babysitting, etc.) is a plus Strong basic math and reading skills Schedule & Compensation Approximately 12 hours per week Afternoon and/or weekend availability preferred Hourly pay based on experience Why Join Us?
