Job Description

At Mary Elizabeth Farm School we believe that caring is at the heart of every healthy community. We work and play on this land purposefully, caring for not only ourselves and each other, but for the animals, the river, the fields and the woods. We teach children using tools that we believe everyone can relate to: farm chores, hiking, gardening, building forts, sledding, potlucks, swimming and other imaginative play. We work hard to create a family atmosphere where parents and children can feel at home. We are currently looking to add a part-time Assistant Pre-School teacher to our dynamic team! We are looking for a true steward of imagination, someone in tune with nature who will take advantage of our whimsical environment. The ideal candidate would be someone with a lot of energy who has a passion for teaching as well as for the outdoors. Our curriculum relies heavily on being active and we spend much of our time outside, weather permitting. The Assistant Pre-School teacher will work alongside and support the Lead Teacher in implementing the pre-school curriculum, while maintaining a nurturing and safe environment. The Assistant Pre-School will also be responsible for leading their own activities, providing extra support to the children as needed and ensuring the classroom is reset and ready for the next day.
Responsibilities:
Cultivate an inclusive environment that fosters a love of learning and a community of kindness. Assist Lead Teacher with implementing lesson plans Plan, develop and lead developmentally appropriate play-based activities Provide additional support to students as needed Ensure the classroom is clean and prepared for the next day
Qualifications:
Experience in early childhood education required Associate or Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Early Childhood Education or related field required Farm experience/exposure an asset Knowledge of languages other than English an asset
Schedule:
We are looking to fill the following schedules, with some flexibility: Monday-Wednesday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm or Tuesday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm
Compensation:
18$-25$/hour commensurate with experience
Note:
We are looking for a candidate who would be available to start in May until the school year ends in June, and continue for the 2026-2027 year in August.
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
