MRC Program Assistant I or II

Job Description

LOCATION
Port Hadlock, WA Are you passionate about Jefferson County's marine environment? Are you looking to gain experience in the environmental field? Does working with volunteers who are actively protecting and restoring our local marine habitats sound fulfilling? If so, we'd like to hear from you! Jefferson County WSU Extension is seeking a Program Assistant to support the Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee (MRC). Depending on qualifications and experience, applicants may be hired at either the Program Assistant I or Program Assistant II level. This is a 15 hour/week, benefitted position. This position is dependent on grant funding, and is currently funded through December 2027. It is expected additional funding will be available through December 2029. This position will provide primarily office-based administrative and project support to the MRC, with opportunities to support marine science monitoring, conservation, and education projects in the field as interested. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Creating and editing reports, newsletters, public presentations, web content, and other communications Compiling, entering, and summarizing data Providing support for event planning, including the biennial MRC project planning retreat Maintaining program equipment and supplies Maintaining digital and physical records, including labeling, organizing, and/or filing Collaborating with the Coordinator to provide support for MRC subcommittees, including coordinating meeting times and locations, note-taking during meetings, addressing subcommittee questions or supply needs, preparing materials for events, and attending events Attending monthly evening MRC meetings on the first Tuesday of each month from 5:30pm-7:30pm, either virtually or in person Communicating with volunteers via email, over the phone, or in person Working with the MRC provides the opportunity to learn about our ecologically rich corner of the world, gain insight into the interworkings of marine resource stewardship and management, and interact with fellow local, regional, and state organizations working to protect the marine environment.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty. Program Assistant I High School Degree or General Education Degree (GED) and one (1) year of experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Program Assistant I Pay Range:
UFCW Grade 21, $22.80/hr - $28.04/hr, DOE. Program Assistant II High School Degree or General Education Degree (GED) and two (2) years as a Program Assistant 1, and one (1) year of experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience with planning and organizing, project coordination, budget tracking and reporting. For more information see job description:

UFCW Grade 23, $24.57/hr - $30.22/hr, DOE.

WORK WEEK
This position is part-time, 15 hours/week; Work hours are typically between 9am-4pm, in-person at the WSU Extension office in Port Hadlock, WA, as well as monthly MRC evening meetings on the first Tuesday of the month (generally 5:30-7:30pm) in Port Townsend, WA. A regular weekly schedule will be set within these established parameters, based on the department's needs, with input from the employee.
