Days:

Monday-Friday, only when students are in attendance. Hours are 8:00-2:00 or 9:30-3:30.

Job Title:

Paraprofessional Role Overview:

The Paraprofessional assists teachers in the classroom by providing instructional support and working with individual or small groups of students. This role helps reinforce learning, supervises students, and assists with classroom management. The Paraprofessional supports both special education and general education students in achieving their academic and behavioral goals under the teacher's guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional strategies for individual or small groups of students. Provide support to students with special needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning objectives. Facilitate student engagement and reinforce learning through hands-on activities and individualized instruction. Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding student performance. Help maintain a positive and organized classroom environment conducive to learning. Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement strategies for student success. Assist students with personal care tasks, such as hygiene, toileting, feeding, and dressing, while promoting independence when needed. Duties as assigned.

Skills/Competencies:

Experience working with school aged children, with a strong focus on literacy instruction skills. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or associate degree in education or a related field. Experience working with special needs students or in a specialized classroom setting. Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and special education documentation.

Physical Demands:

Frequent use of technology for classroom management and instructional support.

Work Environment:

May require occasional evening or weekend hours for professional development or planning meetings. Collaborative environment, requiring frequent interaction with teachers, students, and parents.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Director of Special Education; may also report to the principal.
