Goodwin University is seeking a Part-Time Biology tutor . When you join Goodwin, you will be able to assist students in their academic journey and have the opportunity to inspire, motivate, and empower students to succeed. This position bridges the gap between the university and the needs of the student and helps students make academic progress, while promoting independent learning and self-reliance.Responsibilities:
Provides academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually. Establishes liaison with the instructor and works under the instructors direction to assist the student. Attends periodic training sessions given by staff members to increase competency in working with students. Schedules tutoring appointments. Provides evaluations and other reports as required by staff. Helps students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying and helps students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas. Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas. Helps students develop the study skills necessary for academic success. Establishes and maintains rapport with the assigned students. Assists in designing and implementing class cooperative projects.Qualifications Minimum Required Qualifications :
Completion of a Bachelors Degree or higher in the life sciences field. Life sciences fields include but are not limited to: Animal Science, Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Bioengineering, Botany, Cell Biology, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Field Biology, Genetics, Human Biology, Ichthyology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, MD, Mycology, Nutrition, Ornithology, & Zoology. Possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse student body. Must be self-directed and able to work remotely, when required.Physical and Mental Requirements :
Vision requirements: ___ Close vision (i.e. clear vision at 20 inches or less) ___ Distance vision (i.e. clear vision at 20 feet or more) ___ Color vision (i.e. ability to identify and distinguish colors) ___ Peripheral vision (i.e. ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while the eyes are fixed on a given point) ___ Depth perception (i.e. three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships) _X__ No special vision requirements Hours Evening and weekend appointments 20 hours per week (This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between Goodwin university and employee.
