In Person Reading / Writing Tutor Sylvan Learning of Hamilton Township of Hamilton, NJ Job Details Part-time From $20 an hour 5 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Flexible schedule Referral program Qualifications Writing skills Teaching Certification English Bachelor's degree Full Job Description At the Sylvan Learning of Hamilton on Quakerbridge Road, we have an in-person opening for:•Elementary Reading/Writing teacher to teach students in phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, etc.•Upper Level Reading/Writing teachers to coach students in need of academic support (We will also train for SAT/ACT prep instruction)•
Math:
We are also seeking upper level math teachers for Algebra 1, 2, Geometry and Precalculus! Why Teach at Sylvan? No lesson plans to create, no formal papers to grade. Teachers do not meet with parents Help motivated students make big progress, reach their goals and improve their skills, confidence and motivation A glimpse of your typical day at
Sylvan:
Working with your students; generally, 1:1 or 3:1 ratio (SAT/ACT is 1:1) Greets students and initiates instruction to personally engage with each Evaluates and records progress of each student Doing what you love: teaching, without all the take-home work or lesson prep All curriculum provided The center is open during the school year:
Monday-Thursday:
4-8pm, Saturday's 9am-1pm. We are also open extended summer hours. Teachers are generally scheduled 6-12 hours/week depending on availability.
Who Can Apply:
Undergraduate degree Teaching certification required (expired cert is OK too) Must be punctual, reliable and professional in appearance. Initial and ongoing support is provided to all of our teachers. While this position is part time hours, we would like for you to be with us for years to come. What positions we are currently hiring: Elementary, Middle School or High School Level English/ Language Arts (ELA) High School Level Math (Algebra 1, 2, Geometry & Precalculus) If you are a graduate student in the education field, you are also welcome to apply!
Note:
This position is in-person at our center in Hamilton, NJ. (not a remote position). Also, please consider your commuting time if you live more than 15 minutes away from the center before applying.
