Job Description

English Language Arts/Reading Tutor (Independent Contractor) Indiana Learning Center is seeking passionate, dependable, and student-focused individuals to join our team as Independent Contractor English Language Arts/Reading Tutors. This position provides one-on-one tutoring services to students in PreK-12th grade and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student success while maintaining a flexible schedule. Position Summary English Language Arts/Reading Tutors work directly with students to provide individualized academic support in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills. Tutors help students strengthen foundational literacy skills, improve classroom performance, complete homework assignments, prepare for tests, and build confidence in their academic abilities. Lessons are scheduled based on the availability of both the tutor and the student and may take place at one of our partner locations, a mutually agreed-upon public location, or in a virtual classroom. Responsibilities Provide engaging one-on-one English Language Arts and reading tutoring sessions Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and learning styles Assist students with reading comprehension, writing assignments, grammar, vocabulary development, and test preparation Support students in developing critical thinking, communication, and literacy skills Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment Communicate professionally with students, families, and Indiana Learning Center staff Maintain lesson records and attendance information Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled lessons Qualifications Preferred candidates will possess one or more of the following: Strong reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or instructional experience Current college enrollment or degree completion in education, English, language arts, reading education, communications, or a related field Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and professionally Reliable transportation for in-person lessons (if applicable) Schedule Flexible scheduling Lessons are arranged based on student demand and tutor availability Evening and after-school availability preferred Opportunities for both in-person and virtual instruction Compensation Competitive hourly compensation Independent Contractor (1099) position Compensation based on experience, qualifications, and lesson assignments Independent Contractor Notice This position is classified as an Independent Contractor (1099) role and is not considered employment with Indiana Learning Center.
