Job Description
Job Description Job Description Job Description Location:
Adel, Georgia About the Role If you enjoy figuring out how things fit together, turning ideas into precise drawings, and seeing your work become something real, this could be a great opportunity. We are looking for a Steel Building Draftsman to join our team in Adel, GA. In this role, you will help turn customer requirements and engineering information into detailed drawings that our manufacturing team can use to build metal building components accurately and efficiently. This is not a role where you will spend your entire day working alone behind a computer. You will work closely with engineers, project teams, manufacturing leaders, and the people actually fabricating the product. You will have the opportunity to see your drawings come to life on the production floor and ultimately become complete metal buildings. Experience with pre engineered metal buildings, structural steel, or steel manufacturing is a strong plus. You will need to develop a solid understanding of how metal buildings are designed, detailed, fabricated, and assembled. However, we are willing to train the right candidate who has strong drafting skills, good technical ability, attention to detail, and a desire to learn the metal building industry. What You Will Do- Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings for metal building components and assemblies using CAD software
- Turn engineering designs, customer requirements, sketches, specifications, and project information into accurate production drawings
- Prepare drawings that clearly communicate dimensions, materials, connections, hole locations, component details, and other information needed by manufacturing
- Review drawings carefully for accuracy before they are released to production
- Work with engineers to understand structural requirements and make drawing revisions when designs change
- Partner with manufacturing teams to make sure drawings are practical and can be produced efficiently
- Help resolve questions from the shop floor when employees need clarification about a drawing or component
- Review project specifications, building dimensions, framing layouts, and other technical documents
- Make revisions throughout the life of a project and maintain clear drawing records
- Help identify potential drawing conflicts or manufacturing issues before they reach production
- Support material planning by helping confirm quantities, dimensions, and component requirements
- Learn our metal building systems, products, manufacturing processes, and engineering standards
- Work with other draftsmen and engineers to improve drawing accuracy and reduce production errors
- Maintain organized electronic files and revision history for assigned projects What We Are Looking For You do not have to know everything about metal buildings on your first day.
You should have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Drafting, CAD, engineering technology, construction, manufacturing, or related experience
- Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail because small drawing errors can create big production problems
- Good math and measurement skills
- Ability to visualize how individual parts fit together to create a finished structure
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software
- Ability to manage several projects or drawing priorities at the same time
- Good communication skills and comfort asking questions when something does not look right
- Ability to work with engineers, production employees, project teams, and leadership
- Interest in learning how metal buildings are engineered, manufactured, and erected Metal Building Knowledge An understanding of metal buildings is important for success in this position. Ideally, you have experience with areas such as:
- Pre engineered metal buildings
- Structural steel
- Primary and secondary framing
- Columns, rafters, girts, purlins, bracing, panels, and trim
- Steel fabrication
- Welding symbols and connection details
- Building dimensions and framing layouts
- Manufacturing drawings and shop drawings
- Construction or erection drawings If you have drafting experience but have not worked specifically with metal buildings, we still want to hear from you. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates strong technical ability and a willingness to learn. Preferred Experience These qualifications are helpful but not required:
- Technical certificate or associate degree in drafting, CAD, engineering technology, construction technology, or a related field
- Experience in steel manufacturing, metal fabrication, construction, or building systems
- Experience creating 3D models
- Familiarity with BIM software
- Knowledge of structural steel detailing
- Understanding of welding and fabrication terminology
- Experience working directly with manufacturing or production teams What Makes This Role Different Your drawings matter.
