Job Description

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company specializing in precision plastic injection molding and advanced manufacturing, is seeking an Injection Molding Tooling Manager to provide hands-on technical leadership for its tooling operations. Responsibilities Lead injection mold troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, modification, and continuous improvement. Remain hands-on with mold fitting, assembly, repair, and troubleshooting. Coordinate new mold builds, tooling repairs, preventive maintenance, engineering changes, and outside tooling. Support mold design reviews, trials, qualifications, validations, and production launches. Identify and resolve tooling-related causes of quality issues, scrap, downtime, and tool failures. Drive improvements in mold reliability, performance, and tool life. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Mold Makers and Tool Room personnel while partnering with Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Process teams. Requirements 10+ years of hands-on plastic injection mold-making/tooling experience preferred; exceptional candidates with less experience may be considered. Extensive experience building, repairing, maintaining, modifying, fitting, assembling, and troubleshooting injection molds. Strong knowledge of mold construction, components, cooling, venting, ejection, shutoffs, and parting lines, including hot runner and complex mold systems. Strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills. Hands-on experience with CNC machining, EDM, milling, grinding, and turning. Strong plastic injection molding and thermoplastic tooling knowledge, with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex tooling and part-quality issues. Strong technical leadership and mentoring skills; previous management experience is not required. Tool & Die, Mold Making, Journeyman, or Apprenticeship certification preferred. Experience with new mold builds, mold trials/validation, outside tooling, or regulated manufacturing is a plus.
