This position is responsible for providing technical leadership, innovation, and project engineering regarding machine, process and design in order to ensure products satisfy cost, timing and performance requirements. A strong background in injection molding related to part design, tooling, processing, materials and secondary manufacturing operations, is required.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Successfully manage and execute engineering, innovation and development projects
Collaborate with applicable teams to define project scope
Determine project objectives, create and maintain timelines, outline project requirements, assign tasks, and oversee progress
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, with all deliverables satisfied
Establish and lead relationships with customers from a technical and design perspective
Lead design reviews with vendors, customers and Amcor plants
Demonstrate strong subject matter expertise specific to injection molding projects
Review and / or initiate new business opportunities, primarily related to injection molding
Specify and quote injection equipment and tooling
Work with customers and internal resources to ensure optimized part design for injection molding
Interface with operations to ensure product, tooling and manufacturing aspects satisfy operational requirements
Work with operations to develop foundational processes
Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to product, process, deliverables, timing and manufacturing
Work with applicable teams to successfully deliver products for plant handoff
Train and empower others and provide guidance to team members
Maintain current knowledge of technical innovations through research, conferences, training, and industry contacts
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Requires 6-8 years of relevant engineering and injection molding experience
Experience in small-part injection molding with a preference towards manufacturing pharmaceutical and medical device products, child-resistant closures, triggers, sprayers, applicators, and secondary operations such as decoration, assembly, etc.
Capable of process optimization using scientific molding principles
Requires the ability to explain the implications of engineering work.
