A Building Engineer utilizes a mixture of construction knowledge and engineering principles to aid with building projects. Analyzes reports, helps design structures, and manages contracts and budgets. Also creates construction schedules and keeps construction sites in compliance with applicable laws.
Join our team and play a key role in supporting the successful planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, architects, and other project team members to ensure project information is accurate, organized, and communicated effectively. Responsibilities include managing project documentation, RFIs, submittals, change events, drawings and specifications, maintaining project information in Procore, and assisting with the day-to-day coordination necessary to keep projects moving forward.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with the coordination and administration of assigned construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout Review and become familiar with project drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contracts, and other project documents Prepare, submit, track, and maintain Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring questions and responses are properly documented and communicated to the appropriate project team members Manage the project submittal process, including preparing and maintaining submittal logs, coordinating submissions, tracking review status, and distributing approved submittals Maintain accurate and current project information within Procore, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, change events, photographs, correspondence, and other required project documentation Assist with identifying, documenting, and tracking changes to the project scope and coordinate information necessary for change events Review drawings and specifications to identify discrepancies, conflicts, or missing information and communicate issues to the Project Manager, Superintendent, architect, engineer, and other appropriate parties Regularly interface with the Superintendent to ensure RFI, change event, submittal, and other project-related issues are clearly understood and properly documented Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain required project documentation, submittals, product information, pricing, and other materials necessary to support project progress Assist in reviewing subcontractor scopes of work and project requirements to ensure work is coordinated with the contract documents Maintain current project drawings and specifications and ensure revised documents, addenda, bulletins, and other updates are properly distributed and documented Assist the project team with tracking project schedules, long-lead items, material procurement, and other items that may impact project progress Attend project pre-construction, coordination, weekly, and closeout meetings as required; assist with documenting and following up on action items Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with communication and coordination between clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders Support the project team in resolving project issues by gathering necessary information, documenting decisions, and following through on assigned action items Assist with preparation and organization of project closeout documentation, including as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, approved submittals, and other required closeout materials Coordinate with the Superintendent and Project Engineering Assistant to ensure required closeout documentation is complete and submitted in a timely manner Assist with tracking punch list items and required documentation through completion Maintain organized and accurate electronic project files in accordance with company procedures Ensure project documentation is completed accurately and within required timeframes Visit project sites as required to assist with project coordination, documentation, and understanding of field conditions Develop positive working relationships with subcontractors, clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and other project team members Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Comply with and adhere to all company policies and procedures Exceed ethical standards Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field; associate's degree with relevant construction experience; relevant construction industry experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience General understanding of construction processes, terminology, drawings, specifications, and the coordination of construction projects Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, general business documents, and project correspondence Ability to organize and maintain detailed project documentation and accurately track multiple items and deadlines Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and other project team members Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel Experience with Procore and Bluebeam is preferred Experience in healthcare facility construction or similarly complex construction environments is preferred Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as assigned Valid Driver's License Must be located in or within commuting distance of the Sacramento area.
