Job Description:
Project Engineer - Data Center Construction Our client, a leading hyperscale data center developer, is seeking a Project Engineer to support the construction and commissioning of mission-critical infrastructure at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado. This role is ideal for a hands-on construction professional with experience supporting complex commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Owner's Representative team, general contractors, trade partners, and project stakeholders to coordinate construction activities, remove project roadblocks, and ensure successful execution of both site remediation and MEP construction efforts. Responsibilities Support day-to-day construction management activities across multiple active project scopes. Coordinate field activities with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders. Review RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation for accuracy and completeness. Assist with MEP construction, commissioning, and turnover activities across multiple data center modules. Track project schedules, identify potential delays, and proactively communicate project risks. Coordinate site logistics, contractor access, and work sequencing in a highly regulated environment. Participate in daily and weekly construction meetings while driving follow-up on action items. Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to support project execution. Assist in evaluating change order requests and field issues before escalating recommendations to project leadership. Monitor project quality, safety, and compliance with established procedures and project requirements. Support field coordination for environmental remediation activities, utility work, concrete demolition, and restoration efforts. Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and daily project updates. Qualifications 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar construction role. Experience supporting commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or data center construction projects. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical (MEP) systems and construction coordination. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and contract documents. Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, punch lists, and project documentation. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Experience using Procore or similar construction management software. Self-starter capable of identifying issues, developing solutions, and driving projects forward with minimal supervision. Previous experience in a secure, regulated, or restricted-access environment is highly desirable. Data center or mission-critical construction experience is strongly preferred. Requirements U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to successfully complete a federal background investigation and obtain site access credentials. Ability to work full-time onsite at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado. Preferred Experience Mission-critical or hyperscale data center construction. MEP commissioning experience. Construction management within federal, military, or other secure facilities. Environmental remediation or infrastructure projects. Experience coordinating multiple contractors on active construction sites.
