- About the Hydraulic Engineering Team
- Hydraulic Engineering at Colonial focuses on pipeline system modeling, operational analysis, and system optimization to ensure safe and compliant energy transportation.
What You'll Do:
- With guidance from an experienced engineering mentor, you may: + Apply fluid mechanics and hydraulic principles to operating pipeline systems + Assist with hydraulic modeling and simulations supporting pipeline optimization and operational decisions + Learn Colonial Pipeline's engineering standards, modeling tools, and regulatory requirements + Support system analysis and evaluate data related to flow, pressure, and operating conditions + Become familiar with pipeline layouts, system components, and operating philosophies + Collaborate with engineering, operations, and compliance partners as a technical contributor + Observe field activities or participate in site walkdowns to understand system behavior firsthand + Assist with small‑scale analysis, enhancements, or engineering tasks under mentor supervision + Use engineering and document management systems to track and file completed work + Build a technical and professional portfolio throughout your co‑op rotations + Present an end‑of‑term summary of work and learning outcomes to supervisors and stakeholders + Participate in feedback sessions to support continuous learning and development •
What You Bring:
- + Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or related discipline) from an accredited university + Interest in hydraulics, fluid mechanics, or pipeline engineering + Coursework or project experience related to fluid flow, modeling, or engineering analysis + Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills + Ability to learn technical concepts and apply them in real‑world environments + Strong attention to detail with effective written and verbal communication skills + Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint + Ability to manage priorities and organize tasks in a professional setting + Willingness to travel occasionally to support learning or project activities + A positive, collaborative attitude with a strong commitment to safety •Our Culture•At Colonial Pipeline, we value •Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence•.
