Are you a detail-oriented structural design professional with a passion for creating practical, high-quality designs that make an impact? We're looking for an experienced Structural Designer to join our Civil and Environmental Resources team . In this full-time role, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and architects to deliver precise, constructible designs for a variety of industrial, municipal, and renovation projects. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the design and preparation of complete and accurate working plans, charts, scale drawings, details, and revisions for complex municipal water and wastewater projects using advanced engineering drafting and design methods in AutoCAD and 3D design platforms. Develop, interpret, and oversee process flow diagrams and P&IDs, ensuring consistency across project disciplines and design packages. Serve as a primary technical liaison with clients, project managers, engineers, and internal project teams regarding design development, constructability, and documentation. Coordinate directly with equipment vendors and manufacturers to obtain and evaluate technical data, budgets, quotations, submittals, and catalog information. Plan and participate in periodic site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities; document findings and resolve design-related issues in coordination with the Project Manager. Lead the training, mentoring, and quality review of junior designers and drafters, including coaching on company standards and efficient production methods. Review shop, vendor, and manufacturer drawings for compliance with contract documents and coordinate required revisions or clarifications. Perform senior-level quality control of drawing packages before internal and client submissions and help maintain design standards, templates, and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Associates degree with formal Auto CAD training 8+ years of professional design experience within the engineering and/or architectural industry, including substantial experience supporting municipal water and wastewater or related infrastructure projects. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD with strong 3D design capability; proficiency in Plant 3D or comparable process/piping design software strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently produce and coordinate complex drawing packages, P&IDs, and multi-discipline design deliverables. Strong working knowledge of engineering and construction documentation, shop drawing review, equipment coordination, and design quality-control practices. Working knowledge of Revit, Windows-based operating systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and third-party equipment selection software. Ability to work independently, lead design tasks, and coordinate effectively with engineers, project managers, vendors, and other disciplines. Valid driver's license
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience leading municipal water and wastewater treatment, pumping, conveyance, or utility design projects. Experience developing and enforcing CAD standards, templates, and quality-control procedures. Experience mentoring staff Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, GIS, and equipment selection tools used for municipal infrastructure design.
