Job Title:
Fiber Designer Job Description We are committed to improving rural broadband through the Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model (E-ACAM) supported by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This multi-year program funds the deployment and support of high-speed broadband service to rural areas. As a Fiber Designer, you will assist in creating OSP Design maps using GIS, managing multiple projects across various locations and states. Responsibilities Design OSP projects across multiple locations and states. Create labor, material, and overhead project cost estimates. Utilize GIS tools to design fiber network builds, collaborating with other OSP Engineering associates. Analyze fiber network designs for the OSP teams using GIS tools and extensions. Essential Skills Proficiency in ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro. Experience in telecommunications design and AutoCAD. ESRI
ArcGIS experience is required. Ability to design new fiber routes. Understanding of telecommunications industry principles. Knowledge of NESC construction practices and engineering standards. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to read and assess fiber and/or HFC designs and prints. Additional Skills & Qualifications GIS degrees are highly valued. Experience in telecom/fiber design is a plus. Self-motivated and comfortable with repetitive work. Experience designing 7+ miles of fiber per week in a production-heavy role. Work Environment This is a fully remote position with fiber work primarily across Central regions. Work hours include overtime, with 7 holidays and 2-3 weeks of PTO. The role requires a desktop computer capable of establishing a VPN connection to a remote desktop provided by the company, which will supply all necessary software. Training in engineering systems will be provided, and the position reports to a manager who oversees workload, quality control, and system design training. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Madison, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $36.00/hr.
