Whallon Machinery Inc. is seeking a skilled Controls Technician / Automation Specialist to join our team building custom automated machinery and integrated systems for industrial customers. This is not a repetitive production maintenance position. Our team designs, builds, wires, programs, and commissions one-of-a-kind machinery utilizing Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, motion systems, robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and advanced industrial automation technologies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- PLC, HMI, and VFD setup and configuration
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls systems
- Support machine startup, testing, and commissioning
- PLC and HMI modifications and program development
- Create electrical schematics and prints
- Collaborate with engineering, assembly, and machine build teams
- Support customer installations and field startup as required
IDEAL CANDIDATE BACKGROUND
Candidates may come from backgrounds including:- Controls Technician
- Automation Technician
- Industrial Electrician
- Machine Builder
- Mechatronics Technician
- Controls / Electrical Maintenance
- System Integrator
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Allen-Bradley / Rockwell automation environment
- PLC troubleshooting or programming exposure
- Electrical panel wiring and industrial controls
- VFD, motor controls, sensors, and I/O troubleshooting
- Ability to read electrical drawings
- Experience with custom machinery, robotics, servo systems, safety controls, or machine integration is highly valued but not required
- Working knowledge of a CAD system
