Position Summary IRISS is seeking a hands-on Junior Electrical Engineer to support electronic product development, prototype fabrication, product testing, engineering documentation, and production implementation. This position will work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer and other members of the product-development team. The successful candidate will assist with reviewing electrical schematics, assembling and troubleshooting prototypes, performing electrical tests, documenting results, maintaining engineering records, and supporting the transfer of new and revised products from engineering into production. This is an ideal role for an early-career engineer who enjoys practical laboratory work and wants exposure to the complete product-development lifecycle—from initial prototype through production release. Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the review of electrical schematics, PCB documentation, bills of materials, and component specifications.
• Identify potential schematic, component-selection, connectivity, manufacturability, and documentation issues.
• Hand-assemble electronic prototypes, test fixtures, cable assemblies, and modified PCB assemblies.
• Perform soldering and rework of through-hole and surface-mount components.
• Develop and execute test procedures under the direction of the Senior Electrical Engineer.
• Generate and process Engineering Change Notices or Engineering Change Orders.
• Assist with creating work instructions, assembly instructions, inspection requirements, and production test procedures.
• Act as a technical link between development engineering and the production floor.
• Assist with resolving production questions, component issues, assembly problems, and test failures.
• Collect feedback from production and communicate relevant issues to the engineering team.
• Support pilot builds and first-article assemblies. Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
• Candidates with approximately one to three years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, component datasheets, and bills of materials.
• Practical knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits.
• Experience using standard electronic laboratory equipment.
• Experience with surface-mount and through-hole PCB assembly and rework.
• Hands-on soldering, PCB rework, wiring, and prototype-assembly skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits methodically.
• Willingness to work in both engineering-laboratory and production-floor environments. Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with Altium Designer, Fusion
• Experience supporting electronics manufacturing, contract manufacturers, or production-line troubleshooting.
• IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or similar certification is beneficial but not required. Performance Expectations Within the first several months, the Junior Electrical Engineer should be able to:
• Assemble and modify prototypes with limited supervision.
• Perform standard electrical tests using approved procedures.
• Produce accurate and understandable test reports.
• Troubleshoot common PCB and assembly problems.
• Maintain organized and revision-controlled engineering records.
• Prepare basic ECN documentation.
• Support production questions and communicate issues back to engineering.
• Recognize when a problem requires escalation to a senior engineer.
