Job Description
Electrical Engineer - Job Description A Tecogen Electrical Engineer works to design mixed signal circuits for PCBs, harnesses, and other electrical components of our energy-efficient lines of stationary engine generators and chillers. This position provides the opportunity to work for one of the largest cogeneration companies in the area, providing combined heat and power as well as cooling to our customers.

Electrical Engineer Description and Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer must be very familiar with the development of PCBs and be comfortable designing circuits. Tecogen maintains 20+ custom PCBs that must be kept up to date on components and developed to improve product performance. They must have very strong electrical schematic reading and drawing abilities. They must understand the design of circuits for sensing temperatures, pressures, voltage, current, etc. They should have a basic understanding of software writing, and a strong understanding of control algorithms including PIDs. They must be able to work within a small engineering team and be able to communicate well.Other responsibilities include:
- Develop circuits and draw electrical schematics to improve the performance of all company product lines including fixed and variable speed generators, water cooled and air-cooled chillers, natural gas power trains, and modular thermal load handling systems
- Understand and design power electronics and power generation equipment
- Design harnesses, specify electrical components, and develop electrical test fixtures
- Support Manufacturing Tests
- Support R&D projects, performing prototyping and first article testing
- Work with suppliers in resolving supplier quality issues and implementing corrective actions
- Lead outsourcing efforts, evaluating supplier quality and cost analysis, for cables, harnesses and electrical assemblies
- Develop board testing processes and fixtures, and write procedures to communicate procedures to manufacturing team
- Identify areas of cost saving and implement changes
- Assist with service territory operations
- All other duties as assigned
Electrical Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is required
- 3+ years of experience working as an Electrical/Manufacturing Engineer in a production environment that builds and tests industrial equipment
- Minimum 3 years' experience performing hands-on system level electrical test, diagnostic, and trouble shooting.
- Circuit based analysis and testing is preferred
- Hands-on experience working with Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Function Generators, DMM, Labview and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in HVAC, energy-systems, or industrial equipment sectors preferred
- Ability to read schematics, ladder diagrams, and wire run lists
- IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620 and
J-STD-001
training preferred- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal skills
