Job Title:
Electrical Design EngineerJob Description We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development, and commissioning of automated equipment. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in electrical design, including control panels, schematics, wiring diagrams, and complete design packages such as BOMs, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and layouts. This role involves creating and modifying electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical, editing and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs utilizing RSLogix 500 and RSLogix 5000, and supporting the testing, debugging, and startup of automated systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, service teams, and customers to deliver high-quality automation solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as this position requires managing multiple projects, resolving technical issues, and providing support throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities Design, develop, and commission automated equipment. Create and modify electrical designs using AutoCAD Electrical. Edit and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs using RSLogix 500 and RSLogix 5000. Support the testing, debugging, and startup of automated systems. Collaborate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, service teams, and customers. Manage multiple projects and resolve technical issues. Provide support throughout the project lifecycle. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in electrical design, including control panels, schematics, wiring diagrams, and design packages. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical. Experience editing and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs using RSLogix 500 and RSLogix 5000. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of industrial controls components, including I/O, drives, servos, operator interfaces, motion control, and network communications. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience programming PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems. Experience commissioning, testing, and debugging automated machinery. Packaging equipment or packaging machinery experience. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Experience providing technical support to customers and field service teams. Work Environment This role requires on-site presence every day, with minimal travel to customer sites, which should not exceed 10% annually. The work environment is laid back with a very casual dress code, typically jeans. The position requires working cross-functionally with mechanical design and manufacturing teams, involving collaboration and troubleshooting on the floor. Reporting to the controls engineering manager, this role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects and machinery, contributing to the full product lifecycle from an electrical design perspective. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Homer, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00- $44.
