Challenges Job Description:

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who can lead a team while continuing to contribute technically to project work. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys mentoring others, coordinating work, and maintaining accountability—without stepping away from hands-on engineering. In this position, you'll support a group of engineers and designers by providing direction, reviewing work, and helping balance workloads across projects. You'll stay involved in design and project execution, serving as a technical resource and stepping in where needed to keep projects on track. The right candidate is someone who is humble, organized, approachable, and able to hold a team accountable while building trust and consistency. You should be comfortable giving feedback, making decisions, and helping develop less experienced staff, while also managing your own project responsibilities. We're looking for someone with strong electrical design experience, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to lead without needing a purely management-focused role. Experience mentoring, coordinating teams, and working in a consulting environment is important.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from ABET Accredited University preferred 8-15+ years of professional experience in building electrical design in industrial/manufacturing, and retail/restaurant buildings. Experience should include sustainable building design and existing system analysis/modification. We are building renovation experts. Intimate knowledge of relevant building codes and standards for all building system design and components including, but not limited to, NFPA70, NFPA72, NFPA99, NFPA101, IECC2021 and the International Building Codes. Proficient with electrical load calculations and design software and spreadsheets. Experience modeling building systems in Revit. Experience modeling lighting systems.
