We are seeking a skilled and versatile Manufacturing Process Engineer with an Electrical Discipline to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between product conception and factory-floor execution by owning both the electrical design of our products and the optimization of their manufacturing processes. You will conceptualize new electrical systems from scratch , generate CAD schematics, and directly translate those designs into streamlined assembly workflows, test equipment, and validation protocols on the production floor. The ideal candidate combines robust electrical engineering principles with hands-on manufacturing expertise to deliver high-quality industrial fluid chiller systems.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Product Design & CAD Documentation System Conceptualization:
Conceptualize and engineer new, unique electrical systems that meet custom client specifications and thermodynamic requirements.
CAD Documentation:
Represent panel layouts, schematics, wire run lists, and assembly procedures using CAD systems (AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical).
Data Management:
Generate, structure, and maintain accurate documentation such as Bills of Materials (BOM), engineering specifications, and physical component layout drawings. Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Leverage manufacturing floor insights during the initial design phase to ensure electrical sub-assemblies are optimized for fast, error-free assembly, routing, and end-of-line testing.
Process Optimization & Floor Integration Workflow Cadence:
Design, configure, and optimize electrical assembly and routing processes for fluid chiller lines using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve yield and reduce cycle times.
Panel & Harness Integration:
Standardize and optimize the physical mounting, wiring, and integration of high-power industrial electrical control panels, variable frequency drives (VFDs), switches, and sensor harnesses into chiller frames.
Controls & Automation:
Integrate, program, and troubleshoot automated assembly systems and test benches utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and industrial communication protocols.
Quality Assurance & End-of-Line Testing Test Cell Design:
Design, implement, and maintain functional test cells for End-of-Line (EOL) testing, including high-pot testing, electrical safety checks, and functional run-testing of compressors, fluid pumps, and thermal controls.
Chiller-Specific Equipment:
Oversee the optimization of precision process equipment, including specialized refrigerant charging stations, helium mass spectrometer leak detection systems, and vacuum evacuation setups.
Root Cause Analysis:
Lead engineering investigations into electrical noise, transients, component failures, or EOL test rejections, executing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to permanently resolve issues. Compliance & Safety Ensure all product designs, manufacturing processes, and test equipment satisfy industrial safety mandates, including
UL 1995 / UL 60335-2-40
standards, the National Electrical Code (NEC) , EPA refrigerant regulations , and OSHA guidelines.
Work Environment & Schedule Location:
On-site at our manufacturing facility in the Keene, NH area.
Schedule:
Primarily on-site to support production floor operations, prototyping, and lab testing. However, a hybrid schedule may be considered for the right candidate during heavy design and CAD documentation phases.
Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years of experience (or 3+ years with a Master's degree) working in a dual design-and-manufacturing capacity within an industrial equipment, automation, or HVAC/R environment.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in reading, creating, and redlining complex electrical schematics and control circuits. Strong expertise in component selection (sizing breakers, contactors, VFDs, and transformers for high-power 3-phase systems). Direct experience using 2D/3D design tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for both electrical drafting and factory floor/workstation layouts. Proven experience managing structural Bill of Materials (BOM) architectures within an ERP/PLM system.
Preferred Qualifications High-Power Subsystems:
Deep familiarity with high-voltage industrial power distribution (208V-480V/3-phase), industrial compressors, fluid circulation pumps, and electronic expansion valves (EEVs).
Thermal Management:
Direct experience in the production, design, or testing of industrial fluid chillers, cooling towers, or closed-loop thermal management systems.
Process Knowledge:
Familiarity with precision fluid loop flushing, automated evacuation equipment, and safety mitigation systems for alternative or flammable refrigerants.
