We are seeking a technically sharp and customer-focused Technical Applications Specialist to serve as the vital bridge between our commercial sales team, engineering, and our customers. In this role, you will collaborate closely with regional sales managers and end-users to evaluate precise technical requirements—such as cooling capacities, fluid flow rates, ambient conditions, and electrical footprints. Your expertise will ensure fast, highly accurate technical configurations and quotes for our industrial fluid chiller product lines. Additionally, you will leverage your deep product knowledge to provide remote technical support, troubleshooting, and assistance on technical service calls for customers in the field.
Analyze customer applications and process parameters (e.g., fluid type, heat load calculations, flow rate, pressure drop, temperature differentials) to select and size the ideal industrial chiller configuration.
Rapid & Accurate Quoting:
Generate comprehensive technical proposals, cost estimations, and formal quotes. Ensure all sub-components, electrical configurations, and customized fluid loop options are accurately priced to minimize lead times and quoting errors.
Sales Team Collaboration:
Support the external sales team on technical discovery calls, virtual presentations, and customer meetings to confidently explain complex thermal dynamics and product performance.
Technical Service Support:
Act as a tier-2/3 technical support resource. Field incoming technical service calls from field technicians or customers to troubleshoot operational anomalies, electrical faults, or fluid loop performance issues. Interface with
Manufacturing Engineering:
Work alongside the process and design engineering teams to convey specialized customer requests (custom dimensions, non-standard materials, specific PLC integrations) to ensure a seamless hand-off from order to the production floor.
Documentation & Tools:
Maintain and update product configuration matrices, sizing calculators, and customer-facing technical data sheets.
Solid foundational understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and closed-loop refrigeration cycles.
Schematic Interpretation:
Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Diagnostic Capabilities:
Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for resolving electro-mechanical system issues remotely.
Communication:
Superb communication and active listening skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical jargon into clear, actionable advice for non-technical clients.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an applications support, technical sales support, or field service role—ideally within the industrial equipment, HVAC, or process cooling sector.
Education:
Associate degree, technical school certificate, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
Alternative Pathway:
Significant, hands-on field experience in industrial HVAC/R assembly, maintenance, or troubleshooting will be heavily prioritized and considered in lieu of a formal degree.
Preferred Qualifications Chiller Industry Expertise:
Direct experience with industrial fluid chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, or commercial HVAC systems.
Digital Tools:
Proficiency using CRM software and ERP/quoting tools to generate bills of materials (BOMs) and formal proposals.
