Controls Engineer - Industrial Machinery A global manufacturer of industrial machinery and equipment with more than 50 years in Northeast Ohio is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer. This position is responsible for designing electrical control systems for custom industrial machinery, developing PLC/HMI programs, creating electrical drawings and supporting equipment through manufacturing, testing, startup and commissioning. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys seeing a project through from initial design to a fully functioning machine. Responsibilities Design electrical control systems for custom industrial machinery and equipment Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts Develop bills of materials and supporting engineering documentation Design controls utilizing motor starters, relays, limit switches, push buttons, sensors and related components Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs Program and integrate controls for custom conveyor and material-handling systems Work closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing and customers to determine system requirements Select appropriate electrical and control components for each application Support panel building, machine wiring, testing and system integration Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues during manufacturing and equipment testing Perform in-house system checkout prior to shipment Assist production personnel with electrical and controls-related problems Review customer specifications and ensure designs meet project requirements Recommend design improvements and cost-effective solutions Provide technical support to applications and project engineering Participate in equipment startup and commissioning at customer facilities as needed Troubleshoot equipment in the field and make PLC/HMI program modifications when required Manage multiple engineering projects and priorities

PLC / HMI

Experience Experience with one or more of the following is desired: Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500/5000 and PanelView Plus Siemens STEP7 / WinCC Mitsubishi GX Works / GT Designer Eaton easySoft Toyopuc PCwin Experience with multiple PLC platforms is a plus. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related engineering discipline preferred 5+ years of experience designing electrical controls for industrial machinery or automated equipment Strong PLC/HMI programming experience Experience creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred EPLAN experience is a plus Knowledge of industrial electrical components, motor controls and control panels Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical drawings and control circuits Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively with mechanical engineers, manufacturing personnel and customers Experience with custom machinery, conveyors, material-handling equipment or other industrial equipment is highly desirable Excellent Career Opportunity Join an established global equipment manufacturer that has been operating in Northeast Ohio for more than 50 years.
