Job Description

Electrical & Instrumentation Designer Hargrove is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Designer to support industrial projects in a fast-paced manufacturing and chemical plant environment. This role is responsible for performing routine to moderately complex design assignments while supporting engineers and senior designers on larger projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and instrumentation design, field experience, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple project priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with Engineers and Senior Designers to develop and execute project deliverables. Perform field investigations, collect measurements, and develop as-built documentation of existing systems. Prepare, review, and maintain a variety of electrical and instrumentation drawings, including: P&IDs Single-line diagrams Motor schematics I/O drawings Panel schedules and loading calculations Cable tray routing layouts CCS and M&E databases Develop material take-offs (MTOs) and assist with estimating material requirements for projects. Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established schedules and deadlines. Interface effectively with other engineering disciplines and project teams. Participate in fieldwork and site visits to support design development and project execution. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and development of advanced design skills. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, or related field preferred. Experience Minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical and instrumentation design experience . Required Skills & Knowledge Experience designing electrical and instrumentation systems, including: PLC systems Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Motor schematics P&IDs Single-line diagrams Logic drawings Proficiency with: MicroStation (preferred) Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word AutoCAD experience will also be considered.
PDMS/E3D
experience is a plus. Ability to perform design work in congested operating facilities. Strong fieldwork experience in industrial environments. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to safely navigate industrial facilities and project sites.
