12-Month Contract (Possible Extension) Job Summary We are seeking a hands-on Power Electronics Engineer to support the design, development, validation, and troubleshooting of power electronics hardware for medium-voltage and utility-scale power conversion systems. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and testing Gate Driver Boards (GDB), Power Boards, and high-power inverter/converter hardware. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and debug power electronics hardware including: Gate Driver Boards (GDB) Power Boards Protection and interface circuits Current and voltage sensing circuits Review schematics and PCB layouts for high-voltage/high-current applications. Select and qualify components including IGBT modules, SiC devices, isolated gate drivers, power supplies, and current sensors. Develop and execute hardware validation plans. Perform Double Pulse Testing (DPT), switching characterization, thermal testing, and fault-condition testing. Troubleshoot hardware failures and conduct root cause analysis. Utilize laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, differential probes, current probes, thermal cameras, and power analyzers. Collaborate with controls, validation, mechanical, manufacturing, and supplier teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. 5+ years of experience in power electronics hardware development. Hands-on experience with inverter, converter, motor drive, UPS, BESS, or renewable energy systems.
Strong knowledge of:
IGBT and SiC power devices Gate driver design Power converter topologies Protection circuits and thermal management Experience designing and debugging power electronic PCBs. Proficiency using oscilloscopes and other high-speed measurement equipment. Experience performing laboratory testing and hardware validation. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience with medium-voltage power conversion systems. Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, or Altium Designer. Experience with EMI/EMC, DFMEA, reliability engineering, and industry standards.
