The Role The President of Construction is the senior executive responsible for the performance, strategy, and execution of all construction operations. This role leads the construction organization in alignment with company vision, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to executive ownership, the President of Construction translates strategic objectives into operational plans, builds scalable systems, and leads teams to deliver high-quality construction projects with disciplined cost control, while ensuring rigorous safety standards and full compliance with all applicable Florida laws, codes, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Executive Leadership & Strategy Implement the company's construction vision and operating strategy in alignment with overall business objectives Partner with ownership and executive leadership on long-range planning, growth initiatives, and risk management Clearly communicate company direction, priorities, and performance to leadership, staff, and partners Construction Operations & Performance Provide full accountability for all construction projects and contracts across the portfolio Establish and monitor measurable performance standards for departments, projects, and leadership teams Drive consistency in project execution, quality control, safety, and compliance Ensure profitability through disciplined cost controls, scheduling, and contract administration Business Development & Relationships Support preconstruction, estimating, and business development efforts as needed Strengthen relationships with owners, partners, subcontractors, and consultants Represent the company with professionalism and authority across external stakeholders Systems, Controls & Process Improvement Lead the development and implementation of company-wide systems for project controls, reporting, financial management, and operational accountability Strengthen internal procedures to support scalability, transparency, and risk mitigation Champion continuous improvement across construction operations Safety, Compliance & Risk Management Establish and enforce a company-wide culture of safety across all construction operations Ensure full compliance with Florida statutes, building codes, OSHA standards, and local regulatory requirements Oversee safety programs, training, audits, and corrective actions to reduce incidents and mitigate risk Partner with legal, risk management, and insurance to proactively address regulatory and compliance matters People Leadership & Talent Development Lead and manage senior construction leadership, including performance management, goal setting, and succession planning Conduct annual and periodic performance reviews aligned with company objectives Mentor and develop leaders and teams to strengthen operational excellence and leadership depth Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred Active Florida State Contractor License (DBPR / CILB) 8 years of progressive experience in civil or commercial construction, including senior leadership responsibility Proven experience managing multiple large-scale construction projects simultaneously Strong background in heavy civil, site development, utilities, roadway, or infrastructure construction Demonstrated success in driving project profitability and improving operational efficiency Preferred Qualifictions Experience of contract administration, scheduling software, and cost control systems Experience in design-build or vertically integrated construction environments Experience navigating Florida's post-Surfside building safety regulations, including milestone inspections, Structural Integrity Reserve Studies (SIRS), and related compliance requirements for multifamily and mixed-use developments Leadership Competencies Strategic, decisive leader with hands-on operational and construction expertise Clear, confident communicator capable of leading and aligning stakeholders at all levels of the organization Proven ability to navigate and resolve conflict across teams, partners, and project stakeholders with professionalism and sound judgment Results-driven with a focus on accountability, execution and continuous improvement Ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes construction environment while maintaining trust, clarity, and momentum Soft Skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients and internal teams Proactive mindset with a natural ability to anticipate needs and solve problems before they escalate Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven consulting environment Confident communicator who can translate project details clearly to different audiences High level of accountability, ownership, and follow-through Calm under pressure with strong judgment when priorities shift Collaborative team player who values structure, process, and continuous improvement
