Onsite initially, potential hybrid flexibility over time About the Opportunity A growing electrical equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and expand its Medium Voltage Engineering team. This position will oversee the engineering, design, manufacturing support, testing, and delivery of medium-voltage switchgear, power distribution equipment, and associated control systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader who understands not only how medium-voltage equipment is designed, but also how it is manufactured, tested, and delivered. This individual will lead engineers and designers, drive project execution, collaborate closely with manufacturing teams, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers supporting medium-voltage power distribution projects. Provide technical leadership for medium-voltage switchgear, controls, protection systems, and related electrical equipment. Manage engineering projects from requirements gathering through design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery. Establish project priorities, engineering schedules, resource allocation, and deliverables. Review engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), component selections, and customer-specific configurations. Collaborate closely with manufacturing to resolve technical challenges and improve product manufacturability. Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning activities, and product quality initiatives. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including operations, project management, sales, estimating, and supply chain. Drive engineering process improvements, standardization efforts, and documentation best practices. Support customer-facing technical discussions when engineering expertise is required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience. Strong experience with medium-voltage switchgear, power distribution equipment, or related engineered electrical products. Experience supporting products through the full lifecycle including design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery. Engineering leadership, technical leadership, project leadership, or people management experience. Experience managing engineering schedules, resources, priorities, and project execution. Experience working directly with manufacturing operations and production-floor support. ERP/MRP system experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with metal-clad and/or metal-enclosed switchgear. Knowledge of protective relays, circuit breakers, controls, metering, and power distribution systems. SAP experience. Experience with engineered-to-order or configure-to-order products. Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, and NEMA standards.
